چکیده
We demonstrate a new image processing methodology for resolving gas bubbles travelling through liquid metal from dynamic neutron radiography images with intrinsically low signal-to-noise ratio. Image pre-processing, denoising and bubble segmentation are described in detail, practical recommendations. Experimental validation is presented - stationary moving reference bodies neutron-transparent cavities radiographed imaging conditions similar to the cases metal. The methods applied our experimental data previous recent campaigns, performance of proposed this paper compared against previously developed methods. Significant improvements observed as well capacity reliably extract physically meaningful information measurements performed under highly adverse conditions. showcased solution separate elements thereof readily extendable beyond present application, have been made open-source.

A method for detecting bubbles in two-phase gas-liquid flow
Detecting bubble in two-phase flow has been a basic issue in two-phase flow systems. A new method for measuring the frequency of bubble formation is presented in this paper. For this purpose, an electronic device was designed and constructed which works based on a change in intensity of laser beam. For this purpose, continues light beam is embedded just above the needle, which is received by a ...
متن کاملImplementation of neutron radiography in the MNSR Low Power Research Reactor
Neutron radiography is an unique, advanced and useful non-destructive test method in various industries and researches. Nuclear reactors are powerful and stable neutron sources for the neutron radiography system. In this research, the MNSR research reactor has been used as a neutron source for a neutron radiography system, and its neutron beam parameters have been evaluated. Also, using the dir...
متن کاملMagnetic field induced motion behavior of gas bubbles in liquid
The oxygen evolution reaction generally exists in electrochemical reactions. It is a ubiquitous problem about how to control the motion of oxygen bubbles released by the reaction. Here we show that oxygen bubbles during oxygen evolution reaction exhibit a variety of movement patterns in the magnetic field, including directional migration and rotational motion of oxygen bubbles when the magnet i...
متن کاملDiscrete tomography in neutron radiography
Discrete tomography (DT) is an imaging technique for reconstructing discrete images from their projections using the knowledge that the object to be reconstructed contains only a few homogeneous materials characterized by known discrete absorption values. One of the main reasons for applying DT is that we will hopefully require relatively few projections. Using discreteness and some a priori in...
متن کاملResolving SNR 0540-6944 from LMC X-1 with Chandra.
We examine the supernova remnant SNR 0540-697 in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) using data from the Chandra Advanced CCD Imaging Spectrometer. The X-ray emission from this supernova remnant (SNR) had previously been hidden in the bright emission of the nearby X-ray binary LMC X-1; however, new observations with Chandra can finally reveal the SNR's structure and spectrum. We find the SNR to be...
